Despite it being a convenient place to park, many hidden areas to mask one's "rutting" and a decent park to walk around.....

I HATE this park......
let me count the ways....all 666 of them.
But I will try to limit myself to 3 personal experiences.

1. I'm not much a morning person, so you can imagine my chagrin when I found out that I had to get up and move my car to allow the street cleaner their right of way and my right to be parking ticket free. SF, please enjoy the thousand that I have donated to your benefit....
ya greedy bastard!!!

2. I walk to my car late at night to go to work. I'm driving....and oh my, that's odd...there's a gust of wind. Did I accidentally roll down my rear passenger window? No, but there's glass everywhere.....yay, glass...everywhere...tons shattered glass.....and a window tinted punctured gaping hole where the passenger window used to be.

3. I walk to my car late at night to go to work. (sound familiar) I'm driving....and oh my, that's odd...there's a gust of wind. Did I accidentally roll down my rear passenger window? (this should sound familiar) No, but there's glass everywhere......not as much as the first time....but this time instead there was a baseball sized hole staring back at me.

So alas I bid farewell to your abuse and neglect.
Hope someone burns you down!!!

I used to drive by this park all time going home from work. Oddly enough, I almost worked right by this park. And of course who can forget that this is the sight of the very famous Painted Ladies as seen in the all time family favorite sitcom Full House. Of course I've seen it from a number of angles and never seem to get it just right like the tv...oh well.

I sometimes walked all the way here from Geary and just enjoy the park. It was rather peaceful despite the pain in the ass grade of the sloping landscape.

i'm not much of a dog person so this place doesn't quite attract me as would an open bar in the park or something. but I'll keep my hopes alive.

otherwise a nice spot...to just hang out and check out boats and run around and run around some more barring the cold disorienting fog that can linger in the area.

unfortunately there's not much in the way of foilage or what have you...at least not enough to hide the outline of two people going at it. I know, I looked. and let me tell you, this park is not a place to do anything of that nature. Golden Gate park on the other hand.....

Beginning with the 2007 tax season, my firm began to provide secured file transfers with our clients via our Emochila designed and hosted website. We receive at least two calls per week from clients thanking us for our concern and care for the privacy and protection of their personal information. Equally important, we receive calls from their friends, family, and business associates that they refer to us.

Thanks for the great technology and service that enhanced our ability to provide superior customer service.

not a bad place...

walked through here when I'm running around lil italy. nothing like getting some gelato ...
hanging out in the park taking in the shine of the sun,
the smell of green
and the beat of the city.

and then head back down the street for more good food;.
nothing quite like it....all in a stones throw from the park.

Bottom line: nothing at all to write home about.

I work at City Hall, was in desperate need of a brow taming, and this place would take me during my lunch break.  I called ahead of time and it was easy to make an appointment.

When I arrived, I was greeted right away and led to a private room for my waxing.  I noticed that was about as busy as one could expect on a Friday afternoon.  It's nice that there's not that funky nail product smell and the place LOOKED reasonably clean.

She got to work on my brows and since I had about 3 weeks of growth, it could have been a lot worse.  I *will* say that I was pleased with her not leaving a bunch of wax on my face and she did a great job of keeping me comfortable.  The pain really wasn't that bad, but then again, I've been threading for over a year and I don't know that anything could be more painful than THAT.  (I'm sorry Deepa, I had to cheat on you...you're on vacation!)

Pros:
smells nice
looks clean
tweezers were wrapped in plastic like they'd been in an autoclave
she left no baby powder or wax residue on my brows

Cons:
SHE DOUBLE DIPPED THE WAX! (did you hear that, Carla? SICK!)
sidenote-sticks really are NOT that expensive
I had to ask her to trim my eyebrows too
one was an itsy bitsy bit longer than the other
scissors did NOT come from the autoclave
Are you fucking KIDDING ME?  15 bucks for a fucking eyebrow wax?
Um... when you talk about the $28 you charge for a basic pedicure, you'd think that your business could afford to pay the fees for credit card usage... I didn't want to use a check, but I had to
If this check is washed and reused, I'm gonna be so pissed.  She told me to leave the receipent's name blank.

As a surprise for my birthday, I was treated to an evening out at Teatro ZinZanni at Pier 29 at the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. I have lived in the Bay Area for years and have passed the familiar tents on the Embarcadero and have always wanted to see what was inside them, so this was a real surprise for me.

It was a wonderful, funny, entertaining evening!

Well, it's one of the destinations in the city, that you want to visit out of the curiousity, but even if you don't - you wont miss much.

Pretty average stores, that look like other stores in the same area.

Pretty cool for just walking and browsing for some gifts of nick nacks.

Went to Mike's Cafe a while back because it's a friends favorite joint... it was ok to me.  I ordered the lasagna which was good but, very salty.  I didn't realize how thirsty it made me until later in the night.

His seafood platter was good and then our chocolate dessert was delish!  I think I would have been more impressed if it hadn't been 30$ a piece after tip.  I can think of a million places much less expensive and just as tasty.

The ambiance reminded me of a breezy cafe but unfortunately, it was full of the much older generation which, normally is cool but because of the extreme unbalance, kinda brought the atmosphere down.

I'd go back if someone invited me but not on my own.

Might see ya there!

Okay, I see alot of people witching and hollaring about prices, older crowd blablabla...
C`mon! There are soooooooo many options near by, just have a drink and moove on to the next spot.
The place is trendy! The place is hot! I give it a straight 4* for the great and really unique atmosphere, friendly service, well made drinks and superclean bathrooms.

TIP: Pay attention to the portraits - they moove! Gotta love the idea.

Haven't been to Alameda in years, but wanted to check out the new theater. Got a ticket on Park St. for making a left turn between 3 and 6pm. .
The lady cop was nice enough and said that there's signs everywhere (they're kind of small though) and the locals honk horns to let people know not to turn during those hours. They didn't for me!!
I was super nice and was hoping for a warning, but she wrote it up. $158 ticket--that's one days pay--and I won't return to the island and give them anymore of money for a long time.
The traffic in this town is not like SF and this is just a way to raise money for the city coffers.

I like this place a lot. The sashimi is always fresh and the service is great. I think their shimo special and sashmi special is especially worth it since you get a pretty big portion. The only bad thing about this place is the wait, which i guess is expected for a restaurant this good.

I am a regular here and I have to admit the food here is pretty good for the price you pay, but the service is far from great. The last time I came here we ordered a tofu soup and forgot to tell the waiter to make it mild. When it came, it looked extremely spicy so we asked her if we could get a mild one instead. She rudely told us it wasn't possible because they made it already and so we had no choice. We were fine with the fact that we couldn't get a new one since it was our fault for forgetting to tell her, but the attitude she gave us was uncalled for and I will think twice about coming here from now on.

the fremont police are corrupt, and SACNET (Southern Alameda County Narcotics Enforcement Team)  gives and sells the public drugs and then tries to buy them back, and arrest them for either sales or possession.

video of the truth about the FPD and SACNET:

http://video.google.co...

Here's what Adam Stirling says about the city of fremont and the police (he's running for city council this year - 2008):

Of all the people running for City Council this year, perhaps no one thinks less of city leaders than Alan Stirling.

The retired iron worker calls the police chief a master manipulator, the city manager socially immature and the finance department dishonest. Mayor Bob Wasserman, he says, functions as a maestro directing council members how to vote.

Stirling remains opposed to the department's 3-year-old policy of not responding to burglar alarms and was galled that police Chief Craig Steckler announced it publicly.

"It was like a billboard saying, 'Welcome home, homies,' " Stirling said.

Police haven't been tough enough in dealing with gangs and quality-of-life violations such as the people who sell fruit illegally on his street, he said.

For the police department, Stirling recommends bringing in experts and lawyers from the 1992 Rodney King case in Los Angeles to deal with "imprudent behavior" inside the department.

My boyfriend and I came here for the happy hour special a few days ago and loved it. The oysters were good and cheap and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very polite and even made small talk with us. I also thought the lobster bisque was really good. I will definitely come here again and recommend it to my friends.

i see what's going on here!

my family used them and it was just ok service. they took a while to get back to us about the car and what the problem was. it seems after you use automotive consultants they ask you to write a review on yelp and if you do that they will give you a discount the next time you use them. well i wrote the first review and we did get the discount of $25 or $50, i forget which one it was exactly. still nothing spectacular but i don't feel it's fair to see all these 5 star reviews for a place that gives discounts for good reviews. it's very misleading. originally i found this place and suggested it because of all the great reviews but now i know what's really going on. you just never know these days so just be careful. we will continue to look elsewhere for a more honest place with better service.

This place has HUGE... burritos!  Omg... and yummy too!  It took me 2 hands to hold one flat, and there was ample space between my hands... THAT'S how big it was!  It took me 3 meals to finish it... 3 meals for less than 7$... not bad!

Friendly service too... and FAST.  Man, how do they do that?!

WARNING though... not a nice joint.  Seats might be limited though there's ample space... they just don't have tables and chairs out for some reason.  You can stand and eat on ledges on the wall if you're not lucky enough to get a window ledge seat..

My friend Crys B and I tried their other fare (pupusas and tamales) too but we agreed to stick with the burrito from now on.  I think she went back again a few days later... and took friends. haha

I'm trying to resist... can't hold out long though.

See ya there!

Joyce was absolutely wonderful. I've been coming her for years now and i wouldn't trust anyone else to do my dry cleaning. I brought my wine soaked shirt to dry clean  thinking it was not salvageable, but amazingly when I went to pick up the shirt it looked spankingly new again and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Joyce is very honest and If she believes something could be washed with a cheaper alternative she will tell you so and her prices are very fair and reasonable.

Alright, I'm gonna be honest. I really don't have any theories about how I end up at the diviest of bars, but I just do. I;ve gone from a bikini bar to a total dive in SF's Mission where I literally witnessed guys going Tony Montana in the bathrooms. (And I don't mean shooting the place up). But hey, that's what makes me awesome and like my Yelp friend Michael H. once told me that "hey I get to review all the good places!"  So here we are on my next stop of dives where I'm sure this will turn into a Yelp list someday. Gentleman Jim's. Here's what you need to know.

Two pool tables. They run the Vallejo Pool league here
HD tv's a plenty.
Wednesday night is Build your own steak n fix-in's nite (9.99, includes a beer as well. what a deal!)
Plenty of cougars on the prowl, so... bring your hunting gear, haha.
Saturday night, Master J.
This DJ lays down some hot tracks.
For some of the night he played a lot of Bon Jovi and Poison.
After all, it's Vallejo. Gotta cater to the crowd right?
But when he threw the hip hop on... I heard some real nice mixes I've never even heard on the radio or online.
Some new stuff with some classic beats.
I found myself bobbing my head all night, even while just sitting watching tv.
I guess it's just one of those things that you don't notice it unless it's good, and then when it is good you tell yourself "heeeeey, this sounds pretty damn good."
Drinks are fairly priced and service is quick.

I certainly would not mind "ending up" here again!

Almost forgot to add, there is a pole on the dance floor.
Nothing like a neck-tatted, halter top, 40 yr old cougar releasing her inner stripper...

The ice cream here is good, but there's nothing that really stands out beyond it's location.  Centrally located in Alameda, this place has a nice outside area to enjoy satisfying your ice cream sweet tooth.  The only thing is, their ice cream doesn't fare any better than what Baskin Robins or Cold Stone has to offer.  The decor has a classic feel, with murals and miscellaneous time pieces.  Unfortunately, the classic ambiance doesn't come with classic service.  I've never had a problem with their service, but they aren't the most personable bunch on the block either.  This place is best suited for getting your ice cream and getting out to enjoy the other shops Park Street has to offer.

Excellent Filipino food and it is pretty authentic. We had the sariwang or fresh lumpia, fish escabeche(fish with a filipino style sweet and sour sauce) and pork barbecue with redwine marinade(really good!) . The creme brulee/leche flan was also so very good. The food was presented elegantly also. We spent like $60 for  2 aduts and one child. It's like you ate at a very fancy restaurant or 5 star hotel in the Philippines where all the movie stars and "elitistas" go.The service was also excellent and attentive. The ambience is very classy and good for dates. This is a great place to bring your non-Filipino friends to introduce them to Filipino food.  Who would have thought there would be a fancy Filipino restaurant in downtown Pleasanton!!!!

ONLY ONE MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

And no offense to Mr. Kao and his lovely wife ,Ruby who probably wants their name on their restaurant( OAK is the opposite of KAO...get it???) but it confuses people. I drive past by this place every single day for the last 6 months and thought maybe it's just another one of those "American" or even "Canadian"restaurants in Pleasanton. I actually heard it from a non-Filipino friend who was reading up on Yelp. I think the wife should have had a say on the name since she is the cook and the Filipino in the family. The logo does not even indicate any kind of asian fusion( shows 2 acorns...what's asian about that?) Use a classy Filipino word for god's sake like Maharlika, Mabuhay or Bahaghari or something so people will get curious!!!! I sure hope they are not ashamed of being Filipino...since they do serve Filipino food????

The sign is also very small and the lighting at night kind of glares on the sign. They should have some card board stand up signs in front so people don't miss it. When we ate there there was a couple that had to go back 2x since they did not see the restaurant from in front.  Makes you want to shake your head...

Apologize for the criticizing but I mean it as being  constructive. I would love to see a Filipino restaurant flourish and be successful since their success is our success. There are not a lot of customers due to this  and to tell you frankly being in front of Pleasanton Hotel with 2 other restaurants right beside and being in a hidden corner  also does not help. People passing will always look at a historical landmark  before they look across the street.

I don't know but I feel like it's just poor Marketing and advertising on their part. Maybe they should have been at the new Ulfert's center in Dublin than in Pleasanton where there are more Asians or advertise more in the Pleasanton Weekly with discount coupons, etc... I hope the owners read yelp so they can realize the potential of the place because they really do serve "Excellent Authentic Filipino Food" This is the real deal people and I don't think you'll find another one in the East Bay like this. Look at the amount of stars they get.

More Power and a lot of Luck to Oak House. We have probably recommended this place to 3 groups of friends and everbody honestly liked it,  We will continue to refer people and patronize your food. We will pray for your success.

SALAMAT!!!!

Last Tue night, I went to Half Moon Bay to meet-up with an old friend from Vegas who was in town.  We had dinner at Navio.   First thing I noticed was how Dog-friendly the grounds of the hotel is... that's awesome!

I liked the restaurant itself as they offered great views of a beautiful shoreline and ocean but I was disappointed that we were there on a 'buffet' night.  I'm not big on buffets and this one in particular was almost all seafood, crab, lobster, sushi, smoked and cooked fishes... with little side dish options.  Also, many of the dishes were meant to be cold, and I'm more of a hot meat and potatoes kinda girl.

I guess I was anticipating ordering some of the other Yelper's favorites off the menu and was just disappointed by my forced selections.   It's not Navio's fault we picked the wrong night.  However, when we were sat at our table, our server just left without giving us instruction or telling us that buffet was the only option.  We sat forever waiting for him to come back with menus!!

Our tab for 2 'buffets' and a modest bottle of wine was almost exactly 200... before tip.

If I go back, I'd want it to be on a menu night with a romantic beau...

Might see ya there...

A friend of a friend said this place would be worth checking out, so on a friday, i would have expected better.

The setting was dark and reminiscent of a ski lodge, with the exception of the bedazzled deer heads on the wall. The DJ, who looked like he was doing a crossword for most of the night, was spinning loud brazilian style samba music while the crowd of 30-something suburban types danced like they were still in the awkward stages of middle school. I wanted to go home. Not worth it, especially if there is a cover.

Hayward-Con is a nice getaway from the large sponsored comic conventions that is Wonder Con and San Diego Comic Con International.  It's also a nice getaway from "waiting in line for everything!" Here you'll find nearly all the local vendors in the bay area and surrounding cities including some celebrity guests, artists and writers.  I've been attending this convention for the last several years and it's been fun taking part in this hometown-style comic convention.

The Hayward event is moderately small, you can walk through this convention hall and see just about everything within a few hours.  But what this convention lacks in size definitely makes up for in quality.  The event is well organized and equally affordable.  There are plenty of freebies and arriving early give you the chance to score special prizes and giveaways which vary from year-to-year.  The admission fee is only $5 and if you have kids under eight years old, they can attend for free.  This convention is definitely family friendly. You won't have to worry about any R-rated booth babes seeking to hand you flyers for their X-rated comic line (not that I'm complaining).  Centennial Hall is easily accessible with plenty of free parking.

What I like most about this convention is that you can find some nice gems.  I can always count on finding a sought after comic, statue, action figure or collection piece I've been searching for at a reasonable, if not bargain price.

To my understanding, the parent company is called "SuperCon"  where they host several conventions in different cities including San Jose, Bakersfield and Hayward.  For the price and convenience, this event is definitely worth checking out!
