Let me preface this review by saying that I wish I could give her more than 5 stars!!!!!!
I would just like to say Adelina is the best. She always gives me the perfect brows! I moved to the city and will continue to go to Adelina because she is that good!
I love the fact that you can text her for an appointment. Contrary to a review I saw posted...Adelina is excellent in getting you an appointment (she even manages to accommodate my BUSY schedule!!!)
Her new location is spacious and quiet!

Unprofessional. They take 2 days to call you back. No one is manning the phones. Secondly, they claim to be booked up till September. There is no way of communicating with the staff to take advantage of last minute cancellations.
Terrible communication.

Ok, I am not going to lie to you, getting a brazillian is going to hurt, but Adelina makes it not hurt as much. I have had a brazillian at other places and let me tell you it felt like thousands of red hot pins were being jammed into my va-jay-jay. When I went to Adelina it was over quick and didn't hurt as much. She is super friendly and professional, as well as sanitary, no double dipping.
Adelina rocks! What a great spirit!
Thanks to Yelp, I discovered her a number of months back. I've been faithfully going to see her once a month for waxing.
She is very knowledgeable and professional.
She just moved and her new place is super cute!

This place is ok and Adelina is a great person, but her work just isn't cuttin it for me.
When I come in for a hair removal, I expect to have if not all.. most of the hair removed, but Adelina always always and I mean ALWAYS leaves patches here and there. She ALWAYS makes me feel rushed. I've had several appointments originally for a later time and when they call to confirm.... my appointment has been moved up.
The location is terrible and although Adelina has made some improvements to her new location.... there's A LOT of work that still needs to be done. The place is SUPER TINY. There's one bench that can seat 2 persons, so if she's running late and there are other people waiting, you'll end up standing. There are no beverages offered, there's NO A/C, so she leaves the window open and all you hear is road noise. The bathroom is filthy. There were no seat covers (super unsanitary) and there's this door that leaves to who knows where.... the knob is broken, so it's stuffed with paper towel... i guess they thought this would totally fix the "privacy" issue. I've also had to cancel a couple appointments and she's the very first person to tell me "no.... don't cancel or maybe you can ask to leave work early" Ok. I get it... I'm suppose to get waxed at 3 week intervals, but my job demands a lot of me, so if I need to cancel an appointment.. I will. I never thought she'd give me a hard time about it, but she did. I'm not taking off from work early just to get waxed. There's a reason as to why I need to cancel. *argh* Overall, this place is just not for me and I can babble about a million other things.... but I'm sure you guys get the point. This is a cheap and unprofessional place.
I'll continue to look elsewhere.

I described what I wanted: long, thick eyebrows w/ a high arch.
When she was done: I was pleased. It was very nicely shaped, a little more round that I wanted, but I didn't make that clear when she asked if I wanted angled or curved shaped.
A bit later, I realized that my eyebrows are wayy too thin for my liking, especially after growing them out since february! I'm really disappointed at that, because the journey begins again to get that nice natural thickness of my eyebrows. Why don't waxers go thicker than thinner to be safe (it is the more natural look)? It's like asking someone to cut off 2 inches of your hair and they cut off 5!
Good arch, too thin, kept length (which is what most ppl don't know how to do). very clean, but I feel a bit bald.

If you are planning on getting your first brazilian wax, I recommend this place. Adelina's studio is located in a cute little beauty parlor near Willow Glen. She keeps her room very clean, with fresh sheets and supplies for every customer that walks in.
Waxing experience: Definitely not as bad as you would imagine. You get professional and quality treatment from Adelina. It doesn't hurt, she's extremely safe and sanitary, and you don't feel awkward. She does a very thorough and efficient job. The prices she charges are VERY good, especially for a brazilian.
I've recommended her to a handful of friends and they would all have to agree she does an awesome job!

I had heard horror stories of other spa's where they require you to trim first and were rude after. You never feel less than spoiled at Adelina's. Her new studio location is super cute!
Clean, hygienic and never a question of perfect professionalism. Ever since I found her I will never shave again! You never feel awkward getting a bikini wax. I couldn't say enough good things about this place.
This is the place in the South bay to get a brazilian. Adelina is very professional and extremely personable, and she definitely helps to make your awkward/uncomfortable encounter a pleasant experience. By far, this has been the least painful experience I've ever had. She gave me some tips on how to exfoliate/moisturize and care for the site and recommended some products without being pushy.
I called to make an appointment and didn't receive a phone call back for a couple of days. So, I sent her a text message and she replied back almost instantly. My first impression was that she was extremely welcoming and friendly. And that is exactly what you will get when you first walk through the door. The price you pay to come here is definitely worth it because you are paying for great results and impeccable customer service. You will be more than willing to return for subsequent appointments!

Adelina is the best! She does an amazing job with brows and general waxing. She makes you very at ease and leaves you feeling like you've made a friend. Her waxing is virtually painless, it's kind of eerie how easy it is actually. Prices are reasonable and the overall experience is 5 stars.
Prices are fair, especially considering the service and results that you get!
She's sweet, sincere and professional and it will take a big event like her relocating to another state for me to switch estheticians!

I have been going to Adelina for over a year now, and have never had a bad experience. In fact, its always a pleasure to go see her. She's an expert, a sweetheart, and is so fun to talk to. She remembers all about my quirky family members and trips I have taken, and we chat like girlfriends while she does my brows to perfection. Anyways, I'm picky and I never stay with estheticians very long, but I'd never stop going to Adelina- she's great!! PS- the Brazillian was awesome- quick and not too painful.

Adelina impressed me with her professional attitude and excellent timeliness. She is fast but thorough!
I made an appointment by text message yesterday and she got back to me within five minutes and set me up with a 9am appointment for today. We were both running a little late due to traffic, but she was able to get me all done before her 9:30!
This was my first time going in for a professional wax and I was especially nervous as it was for a brazilian. She was totally professional though and I didn't feel at all awkward with her waxing my cooter. She carefully explained each step of the process, but made sure not to let me know when the big rips came up. While it did hurt a bit, it was as painless as it could have possibly been. She was good about putting pressure and soothing gel on the skin and the pain was gone before I walked out the door.
The price is FANTASTIC, too. I'd been hesitant to go for a wax because I'd seen it for over $100 or the place didn't seem reputable. At Velvet Skin, the first brazilian is $60 and the maintenence waxes are only $45. Adelina is truly the best of both worlds.

adelina is absolutely wonderful. the friendliest and most professional esthetician i have ever met. i had my first brasilian with her a few weeks ago and she put me completely at ease. she was also happy to offer additional advice on any skin questions i had and most importantly, she was completely *honest* about it. she didn't push any products on me and was just happy to help. i really really enjoyed my experience with her and look forward to going back for more services in the future

How can one lady get so many 5-star reviews? I found out for myself when I visited Adelina. Being a wax virgin, I was very nervous about this appointment. Adelina was so reassuring and gentle and made this experience a breeze. She gave me great tips on how to maintain and care for the treated area.
Her pricing is more than fair when it comes to the service and quality of work she does.
Whoever said "no pain, no gain" was SO wrong!
Adelina provides the most painless, quickest bikini wax ever. Even though getting a wax "there" is kind of an uncomfortable situation, she totally made me feel comfortable and calmed any of my "pain fears".
She's also very nice and even though she's usually booked, she'll try to accomodate you.
quick & not as painful as I thought it would be
-her new place has a cool ambiance inside
After reading all the other rave reviews of Adelina on Yelp, I gave her a try last Thursday for a brow and bikini wax. Overall, I think that the reviews that she has received are pretty well deserved. She was friendly, funny and good at what she did. My eyebrows look fabulous. She did a good job on the bikini wax as well.
Making an appointment was painless via text, she was punctual and easy to talk to, her prices are reasonable, she stays open till 7 which is convenient if you have a terrible commute in the Bay Area.
I will continue to give her my business, you should try her out!

Adelina did my brows for the first time last week. I have crazy allergies and freakishly sensitive skin so can't be waxed, so she agreed to tweeze. Wow, my brows look really good. Good enough to go back, _and_ to overlook that uncomfortable stool. Thanks, yelp, for helping me find this place...

Thanks Yelpers for this recommendation! I just got back from seeing Adlelina! So professional and accommodating. I had a great bikini wax and eyebrows. She did a Fantastic job on both! Her studio is small, but in a cozy sort of way, and Super clean....which I appreciate! And, the convenience of Text msg appointments is the best!
I LOVE Adelina! I go to her for my brazilian wax. She has the cutest bubbly personality, she's professional, and friendly. She's quick to respond when I text her for appointments, and she does really try to squeeze me in. She made me feel so comfortable I feel like I've known her forever and not embarassed at all for the fact that I have to strip half naked in front of her, and I've only been seeing her for just over a year now.
Baby smooth skin...oh yeah.
I thought this was only achievable by whipping out your razor and assuming positions in your shower that would make a Japanese porn star blush. I thought that getting rid of the hairy Italian upper lip would require $19.95 plus shipping and handling--ordering the device only because I was up late at night watching infomercials, stoned out of my tree. (Simpson's sidebar: It's Krusterific, Johnny Unitas--but is my lip supposed to bleed like this?) And my eyebrows...well, I was scared to get them done after the last lady shaved my eyebrows. Yup, shaved my eyebrows, just like I was in high school at Mount Pleasant. (Don't look at me like that, Mount Pleasant alum--you know what you did!)
Then I found Adelina.
I'll admit, preparation for the waxing was a bit nerve wracking. I don't have naked problems, but I did have fears about pain, if she would notice that I haven't shaved my legs in a week (I was planning on shaving them after--going for the trifecta of smooth).
Turns out, it was almost pain free. Inexpensive as well---$60 for first time, then $45 for maintenance.
My eyebrows are looking fantastic, too. I no longer have the impulse to pluck. They should be all grown out by my wedding day, thanks to Adelina. I know you all were wondering about that.
I'd recommend Adelina to anyone. She's awesome, and it's almost like going to therapy at the same time. She is a great listener.

I also found Adelina on Yelp. I'd bookmarked her page and planned on going for months. So long that she even moved salons! I'm glad I finally saw her.
Adelina somehow manages to make ripping out pubic hair a pleasant experience. She takes her time, which believe me, is a godsend in the spa field. Instead of doing large areas at a time to get clients in and out (to equal more $$) She takes her time and does small areas which means less pain and a better experience for the clients. She also waxes exactly as the State Board requires! No double dipping and she covers the waxed area to ease pain.
Have you ever gone to get a facial wax where they double dip? Do they also do bikini's/brazillian's? Do you see the cross contamination issue here?? Ew. And they do that just to save money on sticks!
As soon as I met her I felt like I'd known her forever. She kept asking me if I was okay and we talked about school, Yelp, weddings, kids and her new room in the whole span of 20 minutes!
Some people are born with a gift of playing an instrument, being a good athlete or good at math. She was born with the gift of brazilian waxing. LOL I will definitely go to see her again. *She takes credit cards now too

I've been going to Velvet Skin Studio for years (but I'm just now posting a review. Sorry A!!) !! Adelina is the best aesthetician anyone could ask for. She's professional, honest, very friendly, and very neat. I feel the prettiest when she does my brows. Recently, I just got a facial/microdermabrasion from her. It was fabulous!! Usually, extractions are something that I wouldn't wish on my most hated enemy, but they didn't hurt at all! She's very gentle and doesn't manhandle your face (unlike some high-end spas I've been to).
Due to her popularity, she books up really fast, but she does try to be accommodating.
Thank you all for the recommendation.
Adelina is Velvet Skin Studio and her business was located in the back portion of Millenium Salon. The outside of the building looked a little dated, but the inside of the facility was very clean and well maintained.
Adelina was the utmost professional and extremely wonderful aesthetician for my first wax visit. She kept a conversation going to help me forget the most challenging moments of my visit. Her waxing technique was to leave as little pain as possible and no evidence of hair . She thoroughly described the process every rip of the way and made me feel very comfortable. I was grateful for that.
Credit cards accepted and best to make an appointment. Plenty of street parking.
My wax treatment wasn't painless, but it wasn't painful either. I left happy with the results and my voice an octave higher.

I found Adelina through the many reviews here on Yelp about her eyebrow waxing skills. Well, I've had better. It's just that the girl I normally go to, moved her services to downtown Saratoga, and that's a drive for me. I wanted to try some place closer, and everyone gave such great reviews about Adelina, so I wanted to check her out.
Walking into the place, there's 2 rooms to do hair on your right, a room on your left where they do the rinsing and shampooing, and 2 rooms down the hallway. There's no one to greet you, and no where to sit. There was a first-timer there as well, and she was just standing up against the wall reading a magazine. (She also found her on Yelp). It was so quiet in there, you can basically hear the conversation Adelina is having with her client.
Anyway, when she takes you into the room, there's a bed, and a stool next to all of her equipment. I'm thinking, since I've been to places where they lay you down and wax your eyebrows, that she'd do the same. Wrong! She has you sit on the stool. I don't know anyone who pulls that. AND, I totally wasn't diggin her putting a highlighter under my brows, and filling them in. Yes, she's gentle, and she applies pressure after she waxes, but this is a place I'll never hit up again.
Looks like I'm driving to downtown Saratoga.

Thanks to yelp, I found Adelina almost a year ago and I've been going to her ever since. Not only does she do an excellent job always but she's friendly, caring, and a great listener. Her prices are very reasonable and you definitely get your money's worth. I first went to get my eyebrows waxed and the difference was amazing! I now have eyebrows that really enhance my face. She tries to be as flexible as possible but she is very busy, so make sure you schedule your appointments in advance. I've never had a problem with her not being able to fit me in, and besides she's so good at what she does that it's worth moving my schedule around. She's great not only at fixing your eyebrows, but also brazilians and any other waxing you could ever need. I would recommend Adelina to anyone!!
I hate to be the one who bursts the 5-star bubble, but here goes...
First, I'll start off with all the wonderful things about Velvet Skin Studio and Adelina. She's super friendly and very accommodating with her schedule. I called and was able to get a next-day appointment! Waxing is virtually pain-free and you won't be left with redness or bumps. Adelina is also pretty thorough and will re-check to make sure that she catches any strays.
There were just a few minor things that slightly irked me -
1. The lighting in the treatment room wasn't adequate and it took several "re-checks" to capture the strays. In fact, I noticed a few more after I returned home.
2. As a new client, I was hoping to get the "April Special" of a complimentary brow shape with my Brazilian, but never received it.
3. I was charged $45 for my session (which is a great price!) but when I handed over $60 in cash, I never received any change back... only a wave and "Thanks for coming!" It really would have been nice to let me decide how much tip to leave, instead of assuming that it should automatically be 33%.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely believe that Adelina is worth the $60 and more.... I hope that this may have just been an oversight or something.

I been going to Adelina religiously since Feb. And not once have I been disappointed with her work. I remember the first time I went to see her. I have been getting brazilian wax for few years and Adelina is the best. The procedure is fast and almost painless and Adelina's great and friendly personality makes you almost forget you are getting brazilian.
I make appointments via text message and she always responds fast and is able to accomodate my schedule.
I am never going anywhere else.
***Update 5/7/2008***
Okay, so Adelina does a good job. But what's up with her not having a receptionist to take appointments? It's so annoying that you're supposed to just leave a voicemail or text message with your preferred day/time. And sometimes she gets back to you. Sometimes she doesn't. And sometimes she gets back to you just to say, no I'm booked. With no mention of her next available opening. I'm going elsewhere. If you can get an appointment with her, I'm sure you'll be happy with the results, but I just find it annoying. Taking away 1 star.
*********
After reading all these fabulous reviews about Adelina, I booked an appointment for a Brazilian. Adelina is definitely very friendly, very talkative (too talkative for my taste actually). But I have to give her 5 stars for not double dipping. I've tried a few places for waxing, and I've always noticed the double-dipping, but since I've never seen someone NOT double-dip, stupid me just assumed it was the norm. But now that I've found Adelina, I will definitely go back for the pure fact that she doesn't double-dip.
With that said, the waxing still hurts. But maybe I just have a low tolerance for pain. I've just come to accept the fact that it will always be painful, wherever you go. But it's certainly bearable and the redness goes away fairly quickly.
Price-wise....I think $60 for a wax is okay for this area. I did find it amusing that she had to add the comment "Oh, you don't need to tip me." Maybe it's just me, but I didn't find it totally genuine when she said that.

Adelina was wonderful, very friendly, very professional, very SANITARY! Love that!!! What a wonderful experience. For my unnamed friend who had the appointment, they tell me that from the last time a wax was done traumatized them...With my coaxing and ravings about Adelina, decided to have another try. My friend said that there was no pain, no scaring, and no more traumatazion (is that a word???). Now that my friend has had work done from her, I can't wait to get waxed myself.

I live in San Francisco. But I am more than willing to drive down for Adelina. She is fantastic. Not only is she easy going but she is friendly and caring. I went here for my first Brazilian Wax. Let me tell you, I did all my research on Yelp and found that she had PERFECT reviews. Alot of the other yelpers seem to be first timers too which eased my mind that she was really good at what she does.
I made an appointment with her (she only works FRI-SUN) and it was easy to get a time that I wanted. She is a SF native as well, so we had much to talk about. Which was great because it took my mind off what was going on down there. She does a thorough job. Down to the last hair!!!
Very fast, very easy, very convenient, and very very nice!!! I highly recommend her and will definitely become a regular client.
*Note: She only takes CASH or CHECKS.
P.S. I now love Brazilian.

my eyebrows are so great when i go to Adalina, BUT shes impossible to get an appointment with you have to wait weeks to get an appointment and she doesnt work mondays. otherwise i love getting my eyebrows done with her.
I used to go to this Vietnamese lady in Cupertino that brags that she is the best at brow shaping and waxing, but she charged $20 and always hurt me when she tweezed that I would bleed and have little scabs! Then I went to another Vietnamese place in Milpitas that did an okay job, charged $10 but never asked how I wanted my brows and hardly spoke English!
After reading reviews on Yelp, I called Adelina and left a message. A couple hours later, she personally called me back herself to set up an appt. with her the next day! So I drove there having a bit of trouble finding it because it was in a little plaza area and the address had a "Tanning" sign above it. So I went in 15 mins. before my scheduled time and she took me in right away since her 1pm didn't show up.
The room was nicely decorated with soothing music playing in the background and made me feel relaxed! She asked how I wanted them done and she had me sit up in a chair which was different from what I was used to. She chatted me up the whole time and after she was done, she gave me a mirror to make sure it was to my liking. I noticed one was thicker than the other, so she corrected it. She asked me if I was happy with them...Afterwards, she then put concealer to hide the redness and then filled them in to tint them. I asked what she used and she showed it to me, told me about it, recommended a color that would look best...I went to the mall and bought it right after I left!
She charged $15 for the brows but I gave her $20 because my first time with her deserved a tip like that! I was pleased with her work! And let me tell you what surprised me....not only did she take the time to get to know me and make me feel comfortable, she was nice and friendly from the first time she called me back wishing me to "enjoy the rest of my day" shook my hand at the door when I arrived, and when I left there, she told me to enjoy my weekend and actually HUGGED me goodbye! like my friends do! Some people are uncomfortable with that, but I guess it's more of a girly thing! She's very polite! She listened to what I wanted and gave me the arch that I asked for! It looks even better than before when I used to get them done for $20 but with less pain and no bleeding!
Although it was my first time getting my brows waxed, I must say she did a fabulous job. There were three of us and she let us all hang out together while she worked. It was a really fun time. Thanks so much Adelina!

I've been getting brazilians for 4 years already. In the past, I've always dreaded getting it done every month because my old aesthetician would seriously hurt me. I'm sure she didn't mean to do it intentionally, but her technique got me screaming in pain. I don't know how I endured 3 years with her. Finally, I decided, enough is enough, I'm going to find someone else. Based on the outstanding Yelp reviews on Velvet Skin Studio, I decided to try it out.
The verdict? A++. Adelina at Velvet Skin Studio is a miracle-worker. Compared to what I have experienced before, this is like a walk in the park. Not only is she efficient and precise, she is kind, funny, and always makes me feel comfortable. I cannot recommend her enough to newbies who are considering brazilian or any type of bikini wax. She is simply awesome.
Adelina is awesome. It was so easy to make an appointment via text and she was really flexible about times -- I hate calling salons and having them tell me that I can have an appointment in three weeks. I got my brows, legs, and underarms waxed. TOTALLY painless. I was amazed. She did a great job and everyone said my brows looked great.
She's sweet and fun and friendly. We had a great conversation about weddings, relationships, and friends. I also was horribly late to my appointment (45 minutes) and felt really bad, but she was really nice about it. All she said was, "Don't worry, I can work fast" and she got everything done before her next appointment! I arrived at 11:45 for an 11 a.m. appointment, and she got me done right before her 12:30 appointment, so I suspect she had to give up lunch, but she never said a word about it or made me feel bad -- and it seemed sincere, not like she was trying to hide her annoyance to not lose a customer.
I guess if people are looking for the fancy-shmancy spa experience with people kowtowing and waiting on you, this isn't the place for you. It is small, but nice. The atmosphere was pretty relaxing and peaceful -- much nicer for me than a huge salon with a million people in the waiting room, etc. I'm the kind of person that prefers the secret hole-in-the-wall restaurant with AMAZING food rather than the huge elegant places with mediocre overpriced food.
